Indentation Testing

The Indentation test is a measure of the resistance to coatings to mechanical damage under complex loading.

This test is performed by pressing a steel sphere into a softer test material. During the test, applied load and displacement are measured along with residual impression afterwards. The indentation load and the impression are then used to calculate the hardness of the material.
